7850 getting beat by gt 635?

Idontkno23

Hello all, I recently built my brother a PC for christmas, and for his graphics card I installed my old 7850. His friend got a pc with a GT 635 and is somehow getting better fps results?

The cpu paired with the 7850 is an Amd Athlon x4 740, I figured it wouldn't bottleneck the gpu but that may be the case. If that is the case, what cpu/apu would you guys recommend upgrading to on FM2?

No way it can beat a 7850. Maybe he plays at a lower res?

That's what I was thinking, but apparently they are both playing at the same settings. I'm going to mess around with the PC today and see if I can't get it faster.

He must be playing at 1366x768 or something lower than 1080p, I'm guessing your brother is playing at 1080p?

Brother playing at 900p, I wouldn't be surprised if his friend is playing lower then that though as his pc is just a Best buy dell.

Its basically a gtx 560 ti rebadge, a few things are different but it should perform quite similar to it in the end. It lacks a few things so it should be closer to a 550 ti.

Well the only thing it really shares is Cuda cores, memory/TMU/ROPS/SMX/ as well as TR FR FP are all about half that of 560ti if not less. That card shouldn't hold a candle to a 560ti something is clearly afoot here. You're closer with the 550ti though, but its nowt compared the 560ti, and should get left in the dust by a 7850.

when in doubt blame gaben, its not a bad thing that a card is playing better then it should be playing .

Snip

There is a few different things that might be wrong here.

1) You and your brother is both high.

2) The software used for measuring is high.

3) The 7850 is the crappiest 7850 ever and should be RMA-ed.

4) The GT 635 is actually a 670 in disguise.

5) He is playing at a higher res then his friend.

I just have no idea, but I am guessing that the resolutions are different :)

He doesn't know much about his friends monitor other than "it's a touchscreen" so I would think it would be 1080p as well. I'll inquire more about this later.
