30cm seems a bit long for that; however, it's better for it to be too long than too short.

I would recommend for you to look at this thread regarding different types of PCI-e risers.

A couple things to keep in mind:

  • Cheap cables won't bend well and will be shorter than advertised
  • longer cables *can* have slightly higher latency, although this, in most cases, doesn't make any difference.

A while ago, I bought a 20cm EZDIY riser cable. So far, I've had no problems with it. Here's a link to their 25CM version.
