microphone NEEWER 700 Assistance

Greetings,

 

So i just recently purchased the NEEWER 700 after seeing some good reviews for the microphone. This was after the microphone on my headset ceased working (That headset is a USB connected one btw). Anyway, after setting up the stand the phantom power brick that came with it etc i finally got to setting it up on my PC.

 

I've connected the 3.5mm jack to the mic port at the front of my PC, and all was working fine, the only problem is now the microphone isn't picking up external sounds. The only thing i hear is static, no amount of taping on the mic yelling into it etc seems to covet any kind of response.

 

So I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas what the issue may be?

 

P.S Just remembered that the port i put the 3.5mm jack into is working as i used a old turtle beach headset mic through it to speak to friends on teamspeak (all be it at an awful and almost in-understandable level).

Additionally, i just tested it connecting to my laptop, i could hear my voice through the mic when connected to the laptop, however it did sound like i was on the otherside of the room when i was a matter of centimeters away. But that hopefully only requires me tweaking settings.
