Windows Mirroring

LWCericato

Hi

First post on this forum, but i've been watching linus videos for a while.

I've buyed two Seagate Skyhawk 8TB drivers for use in a raid 1 setup. After reading a bit about i think Windows Mirror would be better for me than than Intel Raid 1. But i have some doubts.

1. If one of my HD fails, can a use the other one alone until i can receive another one?

2. I'm wanting to use windows mirror because if my motherboard fails it will be easier to recover. Thats true?

My setup:

i5 6600k

Asus Maximus VIII Hero

DDR4 8GB 2133 x2

PS: i inteded to buy the Iron Wolf ones, but they were not disponible, and this will be used in a home system.

For mirroring in windows, be sure to use storage spaces, its much better than the disk management raid.

1. Yep, its like normal raid, you can use it just fine if one drive failes

2. Yep storage spaces is just much better than motherboard raid.
