Red flickering pixels (no issue with the screen itself).

Dudis

So i think i have damaged my HDMI port, but i would love to get peoples thoughts on it.

I was cleaning my desk and accidentally unplugged an HDMI from the back of my laptop. I plugged it back in and noticed that my second monitor was flashing with red pixels, kinda like this:

It mostly appears in blue and gray gradients.

I tried changing the cable - Same issue

I tried connecting another HDMI screen to my laptop - Same issue

I tried plugging the monitor into another PC (with the same cable) - Issue gone

So the issue cant be my monitor or HDMI cable, it has to be my PC. Would that leave a damaged HDMI port as the most plausible explanation?

The screen doesnt have Displayport, so I cant test that. I searched the web and found a lot of people fixed similar issues by changing color settings, but I have tried playing around in the Nvidia control-panel, which moves the pixels around to new areas, but does not fix the issue.

Is there anything else i should try or that I havnt thought about?

Thank you guys in advance!

I think I've found some sort of a solution:

I changed the color format from RGB to YCbCr422 and the issue seems to be gone. YCbCr444 gave me similar flickers but in Cyan-ish instead of red.

I'm still interested in your thoughts on what could have caused this, but this is mostly "solved" (bandaided) now i suppose :)
