CPU Temps

Harkulles

Hi, i have a R5 1600, with the box cooler. Are these Temps normal?

Idle: 36C - 38C

under Load: 74C - 79C

I did not OC the CPU. The FAN setting is on Default, and i changed the thermopaste (not like "The Verge"). I heard, that the Temps should stay under 72C. I want to use the CPU for a very long time, so is it a good idea to OC? If yes, how high should the temps go without damaging anything? (The Bottleneck of the PC is my RX580 8GB)

Thx for your Help!

no, once your temps start reaching above 90 then you should worry

those are good options, but kinda expensive. but if you want to overclock it without hurting the cpu, you'll need a new cooler.

I thought the Ryzen stock coolers were good & would allow some OCing? OP is likely talking about the AMD Wraith Spire Cooler (no LED) that comes with the Ryzen 5 1500X, 1600 & 2600X.

https://www.amd.com/en/technologies/cpu-cooler-solution

they're good non overclocked, but if you want to oc, then it is recommended to purchase a new cooler

For reference I'm running R5 1600 at 3.8Ghz 1.35V with stock cooler at stock curve, it stays around 60-63c when playing CPU heavy games. But I do have solid case cooling.

Main system: Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Asus ROG Strix B650E / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 32GB 6000Mhz / Powercolor RX 7900 XTX Red Devil/ EVGA 750W GQ / NZXT H5 Flow

How many stock fans came with it? And if the CPU has problems then it may be your CPU cooler. What CPU cooler do you have?

2 intake, 1 exhaust,  all 120mm

And the wraith? (Box cooler from the R5 1600)

Do you think you have a temperature problem or do you have a temp problem?

i hope, that it explains my problem :) the temps are a little higher than they should, so i guess its because of my bad Airflow

80° is not bad and don't justify upgrading the fan if you are on a budget.

Noise might improve but temp should only drop by a few degree and this don't gain you much more performance.

Btw. did you already adjusted the fan curve?

I dont know what to aim for, when i adjust the curve. Do u know a tutorial that i can watch?
