Hi all, first post here so I hope I include all the necessary info.

Finally decided to move to PC gaming after a few years of misty eyed window shopping. I have never owned more than a laptop for gaming on PC wise, currently using one with a GT525m, and yes it hurts. Never planned or assembled a PC before but willing to give it a shot so after teaching myself the basics and making the list i'm looking to get any final pointers.

Budget / Location

Building in Australia with a budget of up to $5000 AUD. Currently its a tiny bit over that but i'm ok with that but not with too much more over.

Aim

Plan on playing a far range of games on it, some medium range others more demanding. (I can run Space Engineers right now at 15fps on the lowest settings with some funky resolution settings) Hope to run most games on the highest settings I can on the listed 1440p / 144htz monitor. I know it wont fill that out in everything on high settings but close is close enough for me.

Monitors

Just the one listed monitor at 1440p. Possibly adding a 2nd monitor later, just a cheap 1080p one for side stuff but that's far down the line.

Peripherals

I'm gonna hate myself later but i'm giving in and blowing a bit more than i really need (across the whole build really). Listed a Glaive RGB and K70 Mk2 RGB both from Corsair, hope to sync RGB with the ram and fans in the build. The speakers though are just some cheap ones to supplement the terrible speakers on the monitor. For most games I plan to use my good existing headphones but the speakers will just be YouTube and Netflix gear.

Why are you upgrading?

Only ever played console and got tired of seeing games on PC I cant play, got a lot of games I have my eye on and ones I might re-buy just to play them on PC

I wrote in custom prices, getting everything from PC Case Gear and PCPP doesn't have their prices for everything. I would get stuff from stores in my local area but they either don't sell anything good or its much pricier.

Some stuff wont list on PCPP so ill put those here:
Corsair Commander Pro - $99

Corsair Lighting Pro Expansion Kit - $59

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Is the motherboard overkill? Only looking at the Z390 because nowhere near me lists the Z370 anymore.

Thoughts on the CPU cooler? Picked it for the clearance it should give me for the really tall RAM.

Stop me before I do something stupid! Thanks!

pccasegear shows 8th gen mobo still in stock, is it too expensive to get just the mobo shipped? Cos you would probably save some money there.

Otherwise it is all g

Saved you over $100 and brought the system under budget just by replacing the stupidly overpriced WD Black 2TB with another 2TB HDD.

You can always look for a used 1080 Ti. Most of them will be ex-mining cards, but if you're lucky you can find one that was either used sparingly, or just for gaming. I found one used for about 35% off new price, and it has 2 years left on warranty. Other than that, looks good. Also, I'd wait for the 9000 series to be in stock, cause the price of the 8000 series will likely come down, even just a little. But if you have 5 grand to blow you probably don't care much about $20
