Sleeper PC Build Help

Decided to do a sleeper PC with a HP Vectra case.

Now... I'm not very good at the whole "micro PC thing"

So basically I need a small motherboard (SSD on-board is nice but not required)

Decent CPU (quad core, 3-4 GHz)

SSD (on-board or not I don't have a preference)

 

I already have CPU cooler (stock Intel cooler), GPU (MSI 1050), HDD, and RAM (Patriot DDR4 8 GB 2x4)

Also if anyone knows a good but cheap PCI-Express x16 extension cable let me know

No peripherals needed

Aiming for a mere quad core is pretty low performance in budget. You could get a lot more given what you already have, especially for $700.

Thankfully the cooler is taken care of with ryzen for the most part, especially second gen ryzen. I would say if this is too underpowered, you should get a ryzen 5 2600.

ITX builds are great, modern motherboards have so many great features as well, you are really not giving up much. I love my ITX system!

Your budget allows for an i5 Intel CPU, or 6 core R5 or even R7 CPU, so you can go that route as well, up to you.

Stock intel cooler.. Try to see if you can spend a little more to get a better cooling system. Or I suppose use the stock until you are able to get everything and check temps afterwards.

I will eventully get a better cooling system, im just sticking with stock intel or AMD until I find a one fan water cooling radiator (if it exists)

You have a lot of options to choose from.

Keep in mind the 8600K is a pretty h o t chip if you OC, my one at 5GHz hit over 90C on an H7 Universal and still hits over 81C with an NH-D15S, which is a hella beefy cooler.

So far liking this the most, just think Intel both too expensive and hot, Also love the motherboard

Just need some ideas on PCI extension for GPU and if anyone knows about a one fan water cooling system

Im doing sleeper PC with HP Vectra case, Just went and mesured, and with a little bit of metal-work the back I/O ports will fit, The board fits easily with plenty of room

I think that's the best build as well. Do you have a picture of the interior of the case?

They're everywhere. Just look up 120mm or 140mm radiator.

Would something like this work? You could mount the CPU on it's side then, just would need some minor case rigging.
