WDS or Wireless Mesh/Bridge solution help

First time posting here. Sorry if this is the wrong place. But I am looking for a WDS or wireless mesh/bridge solution. I seen Linus did the video with ASUS routers and their AiMesh. And before I just go and buy two ASUS routers to solve my solution. I was hoping to use my Netgear R6220 which supports a wireless repeater/WDS feature. And I was hoping to just get a 2nd one.

Just recently I have tried using DDWRT to use a Linksys and another Netgear model. I got the Linksys working but its bandwidth is too low. And the Netgear one with DDWRT was a crap shoot. So I was hoping Netgear's baked in feature would work at least a little better. But I am having trouble finding people that have actually done it or reports of it working?

Ultimately I need WIRED connection to two computers in my domicial that are unable to be wired directly to the router/modem. Should I just go with the ASUS AiMesh or is there another solution?

I use the ubiquiti wireless uplink in a similar deployment fashion, wired segment in the basement using a wireless uplink upstairs to other wired hosts.

What kind of budget and performance you were looking for

PC : 3600 · Crosshair VI WiFi · 2x16GB RGB 3200 · 1080Ti SC2 · 1TB WD SN750 · EVGA 1600G2 · Define C

Well in all hope, I was trying to just buy a 2nd R6220 for $76ish and be done. If I can swing I could spend maybe $400 and replace the whole system with something else. And as for performance I dont have crazy amount of bandwidth in the first place 25mbps down and 10mbps up. So I guess I am looking for something more low latency.

And I guess I also need to consider there will be at any point in time 5-9 mobile devices on the wi-fi as well.
