I just got my PS3 Slim (used). Got questions....

First off, most important question: it keeps telling me to update software (it says "latest update data was found 4.82" if I remember correctly). 

Is it 100% safe to update software through internet connection? (WIFI)

 

Secondly, if it has parental control I won't be able to play? (I don't have any games yet so I can't test it)

Is it safe to update, the console will verify the download before it installs.

As long as the console is factory reset the parental control is disabled.

I won't bother covering the update as others have already covered it.

 

You can do a full reset on any PS3 by using recovery mode

  • Turn off your Playstation 3 (the red LED is still turned on).
  • Hold the power button down, to completely turn off your console.
  • Keep holding the power button down until you hear a beep followed by 2 consecutive beeps.
  • You will be prompted to plug in your controller via USB.
  • Press the PS button and the Recovery menu will pop up.

Also, im charging my controller now and i see a red blinking light on the controller what does it mean? How long does it take to charge it fully? How do I know when it's fully charged?

Get Persona 5 if you like turn based RPG. It's amazing and if you're in the US Gamestop has it on sale for $20 right now for PS3. And yeah you should do the update to 4.82.
