This is it today with 2666 in single channel and 2400 in dual channel, shows as 2667.

I also don't get why even with 24GB installed it says only 16GB is being utilized by the system, is it that it's being reserved by hardware and why would that be the case?

Hardware Reserved issue should be separate from the 2666 / 2400 MHz reading.

From your previous screenshots, when you had just 16GB installed, it only showed a few MB for Hardware Reserved -- which is normal.

There are a few places you can check...let's start things off easy first...

  1. Go back into BIOS and make sure ALL 24 GB is recognized.
    1. If all 24 GB is showing up, proceed to Step 2
    2. If only 16 GB is showing up, re-seat the RAM sticks.

  2. Load into Windows, and run something like CPU-Z, and check the Memory and SPD tabs to make sure all 24 GB is showing up there.

  3. Go into System Configuration (You can use the Windows 10 search bar) >> Boot >> Advanced Options. Make sure the 'Maximum Memory' box is NOT checked.

  4. You may need to reboot your system.

Hey guys, I have a strange issue that I even reached out to Hyperx with but their explanation doesn't really sit right when you compare the two issues I posited.

I have three sticks of ram, one 2666, two 2400 mhz, all are 8GB all are HyperX fury red.

when I go to bios, they all run together at 2400mhz, which is fine, I actually want to sell the 2666 stick and just keep the lower frequency pair.

however, when I check memory performance in windows, it says something odd.

If I have the 2666mhz stick in the first slot paired with a 2400mhz stick it says 2667 for the speed

If I have the 2400 pair in without the 2666mhz stick, it says 1200mhz for the speed.

Hyperx just said that this was because its double data rate, but surely double data rate for 2666 would display at 1333, the same as the 2400 displaying as 1200?

Attached are the two readings I got, I noticed one says 2667 and one says 1200 - MHz, which is missing on the first reading

I don't doubt Hyperx support is telling the truth, I just don't get why it displayed this way when the 2666 stick was installed.

Nothing to do with Kingston.

It's Task Manager being it's usual self -- not 100% reliable.

My memory runs a DDR4 3000 MHz, yet, it is showing 2933 MHz as we speak.

In most cases, it shows the proper 3000 MHz.

On my PC at work, the RAM is supposed to run at DDR4  2400 MHz, but it is showing the JEDEC DDR4 2133 MHz default speed.

If you want RELIABLE information, don't depend on Windows Task Manager.

Use something like CPU-Z, HWinfo, AIDA 64, etc.

I found that I was putting the third stick in the fourth slot and that was why it was not recognized. If I have 2666 in the first slot overall, would the 2400mhz ram overclock to 2666 or will that cause problems?
