Best PC For $750 USD?

Broth3rz

Need a PC. Budget is $750, it is NOT FOR GAMING.

Here is what I put together:

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=0JC-0004-006F4

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811355002

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813157816

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819117824

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820225108

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820233821

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16823126097

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835103099

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA4M55VE0952

Yes, I know, this is OVERKILL for a non gaming PC. But it's meant to future proof. Can I get anything better for the cash? This is $750 with tax. I do not need a dedicated video card since it's not for gaming and I don't need a HDD or Windows.

Also...

My CM Hyper 212 is good enough for my CPU?

Is everything compatible? I believe everything should work together...?

Thanks!

Id look into the WD blue M.2 ssd
for a few bucks more you can get double the storage

Ill keep looking through and see what else ya got.

EDIT: What will this PC be for? Just average use, like browsing the web?
My thought is even if you dont wanna game, spending a little on a graphics card (even an old one from ebay) might boost ya a bit.
Also In my personal preference, that keyboard/mouse combo would drive me nutty. Even typing or school documents, I like the feel of mechanical switches and a quality mouse much better.  Something like the G602 from logitech is only 40$ at the local Best Buy.

Everything looks compatible, although if you plan to upgrade in the future to dedicated graphics you might wanna just spend a few bucks more on a more powerful PSU.  The same 750w I am using is like 50$ on newegg.

Also in terms of the monitor - I am using 2 right now, one I bought on the cheap from craigslist I think - AOC 1920x1080 23.7 inch monitor, and the other I got from the local school district surplus for 5$ (another 1920x1080, but only 20 inch).  You can save a nice $ buying some parts used, and beef up the rest of your system with the saved $$.  If I were to build a tight budget system for gaming, the only things Id buy new are the case, storage, and power supply - most everything else is quite good quality used, and can be found easily.  Even most peripherals can be found in good condition on ebay/craigslist.

If you're just web browsing and stuff, you don't need an AM cooler.

In the future I recommend using pcpartpicker to assemble your build as it is much easier to look through and it also alerts you of potential incompatibilities.

It looks fairly good, just a couple of things.

  • I've never heard of the case before so I'm unsure of what sort of experience you'll get with that.
  • You don't need anything more than the stock cooler if you aren't gaming or overclocking. Drop the 212 EVO.
  • The EVGA B3 isn't a very good power supply. I would suggest a Corsair CX or CXM (2017 or 2015).

Try using PCpartpicker.com. It really helps. Also, this is pretty good. I think you should try to find a 500-1000 gb hdd just have room for lots of files. And are you going to install windows on the 128 gb pcie ssd? Also, dont go with the logitech kit. Just get a budget kb and mouse like the Reddragon kaura k552 and the Reddragon m711 mouse

This is what I would recommend for someone who is not focused on gaming. Still a very fast computer (and you could play some games if you want.)

I don't think I wanna do AMD. I'd like to do that WD SSD but switching that and the PSU is $20 a piece. The mouse and keyboard will work. That case I selected does have he glass and good reviews. The SSD will have Windows and programs, about it. IT's being used for normal things but good future proofing.

Why is the B3 no good? Trying to change that is upper the total price.

protections aren't working right on it, try to use too much power and it'll blow up instead of turning off. there's no need for alot of those parts for just a web browsing rig, a cheap 2200G would have been just as good while saving you some money. you can always upgrade it in the future if it's not enough anymore.

Why do you need a monitor above 60hz if it's not for gaming???

Alright. I just updated everything and this is what I have:

I go by reviews, I've done this for 10 years and never gotten a bad product. I know if I drop to the I3-8100 I can have like $75-$100. I may still do that and save some cash. I will use the STOCK cooler as you all said it will be good enough since I won't be gaming on it. I may also remove the DVD Drive. I did switch my SSD to the one you all said. I also changed the PSU which should be better then the B3 as that one guy said it has issues. Still don't wanna go AMD.

The only issue I have is I need a 27 inch monitor that has great reviews, hard to find this under $200. I want IPS also since it's best. So I was trying to decide between:

Option 1.

Option 2. (This is weird if you search 'HP N270H' on NewEgg and Amazon, there are 2 different models for that... model? Weird...)

Option 3. (Recommendations???)

So I HAVE to buy this today. Any more ideas anyone?

Windows 7 might not work on  that. Or at least YMMV when it comes to new hardware and Windows 7.  Good news though is if you have a Windows 7 product key you can use that to activate a Windows 10 copy which is free to download from MS.

Also why just 1 stick of RAM? Make it two sticks of 4GB to make use of dual channel. Disregard that suggestion though if you plan to buy another 8GB of stick later.

I know I will have to change a few things in BIOS to use W7 but it's the best OS really. Is there ANY legit place to buy a REAL LEGIT W7 serial key?

I was thinking on add 1 stick later though it may never happen... xD

Aren't they dropping support for W7 soon? like 2020? Just get the pro version, you don't need ultimate. But really though, just get W10
