how do I get "into" bitcoin mining?

Bitcoin mining isn't nearly as profitable as Litecoin mining, an alternative coin with the same general idea. Litecoin mining is really only profitable if you have quad 7970s, and don't pay the electricity. Mining with most Nvidia cards is an outright bad idea. It's also pretty late to just now get into mining/investing. Litecoins have been at $25 for a while now, and probably won't be rising too much anytime soon. Bitcoins are at $870.

Yes BTC costs more than LTC, but the mining difficulty is SIGNIFICANTLY higher than that of LTC, so it will take much much much longer to mine a single Bitcoin than it does to mine a single Litecoin.

So since LTC's mining difficulty is MUCH lower than that of BTC, you can mine more coins, and turn a better profit. To maximize your profit though, you'll want to sell your LTC as BTC by converting it from LTC to BTC.

You just need to download a litecoin mining program, I only know bitcoin ones off the top of my head, then have it send mined litecoins to your litecoin wallet, another downloaded program

I am good at computer

to answer your question, you need to have a cool $20,000 for a rig powerful enough to mine bit coins. With this rig you migt get 1-2 coins a day, meaning $2000 by boxing day. This is all before electricity. This is why people say bit coin mining is hard and something to stay away from right now

thanks a lot guys, im using a Nvidia GPU GTs 450(i know it's bad) but i'll just wait and see if it goes up. not sure how to keep track of the currency..

Don't even bother coin mining in general at all then. I'm going to be real with you here, your 450 isn't going to give you shit. You need a decent AMD card to make any real profit.
