Motherboard Overclocking Confusing

I have a MSI H110M Gaming Micro ATX Motherboard, and I know this is not supposed to support overcocking but it has the option. In the bios I can set a multiplier and other settings (I would have to look if I get help lol) but when I do change the multiplier it does not seem to have an effect. The multiplier also caps at 42 I believe but anything below that or set to that doesnt work. I have an i5 6600k so some extra clock speed would be helpful. Anyone have any thoughts or should I leave it as is and wait to upgrade and get a motherboard that actually supports it.

good, then it's doing its job of not letting you overclock.

 

VRMs that bad will go meltdown with any reasonable amount of overclock anyway
