Hi,

I recently built my new PC, but I am worried about the temperature I am getting at Idle.

At Idle (Desktop) I am getting 50 to 65c. Browsing and Apps.

After I play a game (i.e Monster Hunter World PC), my Idle (Desktop) Temperature became consistent at 70c+ (check the image below)

It went back to (65c ~ 70c) after few minutes.

Upon checking the CPU-Z, the clock-speed is 4Ghz+, that's idle in Desktop - please also check the CPU1 usage on image above.

And here's the graph in HWMonitor

My CPU Temperature in BIOS is stable at 25c, but once I get in Desktop / Windows I am starting to get 55c and above. I don't know why. :(

My CPU Temperature is around 65c to 80c when playing Games (i.e. PUBG, Monster Hunter World, etc / set to High Settings) at CPU Load 45%

Here's my full system spec :

CPU : AMD Ryzen 2700X

GPU : GTX 1070

Board : MSI B450 Gaming Pro Carbon AC

RAM : Apacer Panther Rage 32GB DDR4 2133Mhz

CPU Cooler : DeepCool Castle 240

Fans : Thermaltake Pure Plus

Fan Speed : 90% at 1500 RPM

What do you think is the problem here? Is is the high clock-speed?

Please give an advice. :(

Thanks!

Regards,

LF

I believe that to be normal temps... try undervolting? offset the voltage by, stepping it down slowly and make sure it's stable each time you step the voltage down. Maybe the auto voltage is really high. I mean it could be the cooler mounted incorrectly, but remounting is going to be a hassle.

What cooler do you have?  Did you install it yourself?  Any chance the thermal paste isn't making good contact between the cpu and cooler?

I edited the post.

CPU Cooler : DeepCool Castle 240

Fans : Thermaltake Pure Plus

Fan Speed : 90% at 1500 RPM

I installed and applied the paste myself, here's the method I used -

I am not totally sure if the temperature 55c and above is normal for Ryzen 2700X at 4Ghz.

Also, is there any way to down-clock it to 3.7Ghz?

Thanks.

Can you send a detailed video tutorial for that? Thanks!

what is your ambient temperature?

seems you a lot going on at idle. your power profile is prolly in high performance so that'll keep the clock speed up (CStates minimized) and voltage.

when you do a default settings in the UEFI (Mobo BIOS), this should remove the remainder of an overclock and move the power options to balanced.

on the ryzen IHS, you'd use more that what stock photo you included.

My ambient temperature is 23c

Upon checking my Power Plan Settings, it is set to High Performance - my problem now is that I cannot change it to Balanced, it keeps changing back to High Performance and then going back to Balanced, how do I set it permanently to Balanced?

In Balanced Power Plan, I am getting 40c Idle on Desktop.

Any suggestion?

Hmm. I think the culprit was my Power Plan Settings and MSI Command Center, I managed to switched it back to Balanced and Disabled MSI Command Center on Start Up, I also reset the BIOS Settings to Default, I am getting below 50c Temperature on Idle, I think I live with that. Yayy~

Thank you guys.
