Hey so i acquired this chip from work out of some old computers that were being thrown out. I was wondering do you guys think that this chip would be able to hold up in a entry level gaming PC or should i just use it for my HTPC I'm planning on building later this year.

Thanks in advance I don't know much about CPU's

It's one of the higher clocked Haswell i3's. Decent little chip. I had a -4150 in a HTPC/light gamer a while back, and I think it would do well in that sort of role today. It's basically a G4560, and you still see a ton of entry-level gaming builds with those, but it uses cheaper DDR3 RAM. Yes, you can do some fun things with that CPU. #HaswellLife

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

Thanks for the information dude I'm planning on doing a HTPC this year and I look forward to using this chip. It will cool to have it play some games for sofa gaming funny you should say about cheaper DDR3 I have some of that sat here from the same PC. I have 2 sticks of 1gb 1333mhz and 2 sticks of 2gb 1333mhz so that should be more than enough. I appreciate the help dude

The i3-4160 plus 6GB of RAM and a GTX 750 Ti will make you a damn solid HTPC that can do some light 1080p gaming on the side.
