Bent CPU and socket Pins

So I managed to somehow bend my CPU and a pin on the socket, after reapplying thermal paste, desperately bent everything back in place, and still manage to get post...

 

I mean it wasn't so terribly bent, but I jst thought I had completely killed my CPU...and board.

 

Has anyone else had this experience? 

Can I call this 'Pulling a linus' and make it into a thing? when you "accidentally" screw something up, and somehow manage to fix and get things to work?

have ran into it many times back on old amd pins

mechanical pencil was great for fixing those

For intel I used a needle and magnifying class.  GOOD AS NEW! (mostly)

He did make a video on fixing a bent pin.

 

He also made one back in the NCIX days.

I did this back in the day with my FX 8320. I don't remember how I did it, but I bent the piss out of several pins that caused it to not POST. I used a very narrow flat head screw driver to get in between the pins and bend them back into place. Although I don't use it anymore, I still have it and it works to this day.

Though I would probably call it Macgyvering a pin.

Linusing a pin would work too.

 

I have used a slot\wedge\flat head screwdriver to raise pins.

Then I would used a credit card to line the whole row of pins up.

I think restoring bent CPU pins is something I wouldn't be too surprised if I managed to get it working again, as I have seen Linus and several others fix em, but I also bent the CPU itself, a G4560, misaligned it with the socket and tried to lock it in place, I heard some 'cracking' sounds and said, that doesn't sound normal at all, checked the CPU, and nearly died from a heart attack! I got the CPU, bent it back in place, and by some fcking miracle it still works.

 

I've ran benchmarks and left it on for more than five hours as we speak, just to check for instabilities. So far it's been stable. The only thing I noticed that doesn't seem to be normal is my temp readings are fluctuating from 45-55c., and the CPU is running 0.1gHz less.
