Pfsense/IPFire Question

I have used pfsense for around a month now. Just playing around with it.

 

But, one day, I accidentially pulled the power cord. Got caught on my chair, ripped it out while I was trying to remove it. But when I started it up again, Warning! Warning! Warning! The whole thing was corrupt. I tried doing a system repair, but that failed too. So I just reinstalled it. Didn't really have any settings on there, anyway.

 

Does IPFire, or any other Firewall OS's have this issue? Of corrupting after a power outage?

 

I don't live in a place where this is a problem. Just if it ever does again. I know, I probably need a UPS, anyway...

You might have been doing something system critical as I have just turned the PSU off for my router occasionally. When you turn it off though it does go through a process of shutting down.

When you flip the power button on a PSU its the same as unplugging it

I corrupted my fresh install too recently by force powering it off while troubleshooting.  I believe using ZFS as the filesystem is supposed to help here.

It also has the bonus of being optimised for SSDs including enabling TRIM support, which the old filesystem needed to be manually applied.
