Ok so it's getting abit grimey now, what's the best way to clean a mech keyboard? If I pull all the caps off I'm worried about damaging the LEDs when I clean it. .  .Obviously should get some q tips and rubbing alcohol, but any thing else I should know?

I have a k70 and It was hairy as F*ck. I removed all the keys with the key cap puller that came with the keyboard. Just took some ear cleaner stick things and took away all the dust and stuff. No need to worry about the LED's unless you put a ton of pressure on them.

The K70 comes with a keycap remover.

I know I'm saying that the one that comes with it isn't really the best and can be dangerous...

But when used properly is fine, cause I happen to have one and I broke a keycap on my kb since it squishes the caps horizontally.

Hey Logic,

I have a k65 and I just use an air compressor. It is unnerving as hell ripping those caps off though!

If you're using a cleaning solution, just let it air dry for a few minutes before powering it back on. Hair drying might come in handy.

Just a tip don't yank off the keycaps especially since you PROBABLY don't have the wire puller keycap remover or whatever it's called.

Just saying cause it's happened to me :P

yeah I have the remover. . . was more worried about damaging the LEDs from cleaning than removing, ok thanks I'll get some compressed air monday :)

you can melt a custom tip for your canned air thats flatter turn upside down (not the canned air the keyboard) and spray till you get freezerburn. I got this technique from modding shaving cream tips for halloween. anyone know what im talking about? I grew up in NY

I recently cleaned my k70 and found a few things:

*Try to go with the brushed aluminium if using a cloth or bud that is easily degradable like a cotton bud, the grain of the metal is rough enough to pull them apart easily and it leaves behind more lint that before you started

*The corners of the cherry keys are quite sharp so will mess up your cloth fairly easily so try to avoid hitting the corners

For me personally I used cotton tips with a small amount of rubbing alcohol just to break through a few dried up spills that were on my board and also pick up dust more easily!

Have fun cleaning your board and I hope it doesnt got too badly ;)

Although my K70 MX Red's is only a week and a half old to me, I make a habit of using compressed air on it at least twice a day, mainly because I got two cats in the house and there is hair in the air and dust and particles that I notice land on the keyboard during the day, even when i'm not using it. If you get compressed air and make the habit of doing a good blow to the keyboard twice a day or so, you probably won't have to do a full cleaning in a long time.

Before you finally log off, I recommend you cover your KB with something like a large lint free cloth(I'm not sure if it being lint free will do anything lol) or maybe a plastic cover that came with your KB or something.

I got a clear cover included with my ducky even though I don't cover my keyboard cuz I'm too lazy to bring it out. Some ideas I came up with
