Speed up your computer with... Cheat Engine?!

So I was playing around with Cheat Engine.

 

Opened Physical Memory process, entered the address 00000000 manually as byte, and changed the value to different things such as 128000000000, 512000000000, 1024000000000 etc.

 

And actually everything speeds up. Application loading, Internet browser and websites, etc. Though other things that require more processing power remain the same speed. I noticed afterwards that this actually increased my windows startup. But Idk why because resetting the pc would reset everything?

 

Anyway it's a good 1.3-1.6x the normal speed. Like if you were to open up gmail.com, the gmail symbol shows for 0.5 seconds then all your mail pops up, instead of the symbol popping up and showing the loading bar.

 

It can be done with the physical memory process or system process. 

 

I'm not sure why it works.

Really don't understand how it speeds up windows startup and login either after restarting?

Well I sure as hell am not gonna be the first to try, I have very little experience with directly altering memory like that. I do have a friend who uses chest engine that way though so I'll ask him what that would do

I would highly discourage people from playing around with changing memory values if you don't know what you're doing.

Seems I've uhh... permanently sped up my system.

 

The only way I could show the difference is if I reinstall windows/etc.

 

And I'm not that bothered to do it. Lol

Well I'm not one to just take people's word for it on a forum unless it has some backup details, unfortunately.

Well unfortunately the info I got from my friend was "it's possibly legit but I don't know for sure what it does so of course I'm not doing it." An anticlimactic end to be sure.

Inputting random values in random addresses in memory... sounds like a great way to start corrupting data. The OP may be inadvertently breaking background processes and not seeing it. If the OP isn't trolling they may have just gotten lucky it wasn't a critical process that was corrupted.

 

Play with fire and eventually you'll get burned. I still stand by my original statement. I would not recommend modifying memory values if you dont know what you're doing. Especially to your main system!

Half of my mouse cursor disappears for a split second before showing the blue loading icon... that's about all I've noticed.

Well im certainly not attempting it without proof.

I plan on doing it with every main process such as svchost and everything else just to see what's up. I'll post here if there's any different results.

 

Another thing, when I was picking around with physical memory addresses, or it could have been system not sure, I had 4 addresses at the bottom and changed them to different types such as double, float, etc. That when I changed one address the others changed. Which I thought was weird.

The only way I see this possibly "Speeding things up" is your actions of editing values forcing certain checks to not occur within processes. You are changing the types that variables are set to which will likely lead to corruption issues if you start going to far.
