Help with 1TB HDD

Doesn't matter. Hard drives have a max transfer of around 100MB/s. So even if you were running SATA 1 you wouldn't be able to max out the connection. SATA 2 for any hard drive will pose no issues whatsoever. Just use it as you normally would. 

 

Now, for a 5400RPM drive, the data access speeds will be slower and the data transfer speeds may be a bit slower but it shouldn't be too bad. 7200RPM drives do run faster and have better access times though. Just play it by ear and see what happens. My philosophy is if works it works.

 So I just made a gaming computer for the first time my actual hard drive for that is 120 GB SSD and I want to put my programs and games on another hard drive I have a 1 TB 2.5 seagate ST1000LM024 5400 RPM SATA 2 not 3.  I understand the RPM is low rather have a 7200 RPM and SATA 3.   With that work for now till I get money for a 3.5" 2 TB hard drive and doesn't make any difference if I get a 2.5"or 3.5"?

CPU: AMD Phenom II x4 955 (95watt @3.5Ghz @1.40V), MOBO: ASUS M2A-VM, RAM: Kingston 8GB (4x2GB) DDR2 800MHz, GPU: nVidia GT 710 2GB DDR3 (OC’ed Clock to 1300Mhz and Memory to 950Mhz), STORAGE: 250GB HDD, 500GB HDD, COOLER:  Cooler Master 212 EVO, PC CASE: Cooler Master Q300L , FANS: 3 x upHere RED LED Fans (2 Front, 1 Back), PSU: Generic 300 Watt PSU.

You can use a 2.5" drive if you like, there's no problem with that. And 5400RPM isn't slow (it's 3/4 the speed of 7200RPM).

its also a SATA 2 not SATA 3
