Doesn't matter. Hard drives have a max transfer of around 100MB/s. So even if you were running SATA 1 you wouldn't be able to max out the connection. SATA 2 for any hard drive will pose no issues whatsoever. Just use it as you normally would.
Now, for a 5400RPM drive, the data access speeds will be slower and the data transfer speeds may be a bit slower but it shouldn't be too bad. 7200RPM drives do run faster and have better access times though. Just play it by ear and see what happens. My philosophy is if works it works.
