I bought a new hard drive and my laptop already had a SSD with windows on it.

I changed the SSD location because HDD can only fit it it's spot.

Both are now detected and even if I select to boot on the SSD I still get " disk read error occurred ctrl del to restart".

Shouldn't it locatd the boot loader by itself if I tell it to boot on the SSD even?

How can I fix this without putting the SSD back in it's orgiinal SATA slot?

Disk order may be a reason. Your sys partition is now on drive 2. Fix boot using windows usb should change that. Or changing drive order in BIOS.

How can it be disk/boot order issue if I'm making it boot on the SSD tho?

I'm about to just reinstall windows anyways.

I am not familiar with all tricks realted to boot drives/partitions structure (not enough information on internet and I don't really needed it, except years ago when I was using win7 in legacy mode), but I assume that your boot loader using something like device number. In desktop there is no difference what SATA port do you using, but maybe in laptop it's different.

Anyway - trying to fixing boot is easier than reinstalling windows. Why reinstalling something that works and can be fixed?

More than that - you may end with system that will work ONLY with both drives connected - your HDD and SSD - if Windows detects that the only place where boot partition (not system) can be placed is your HDD.

Go into bios and change your boot order. The bios still thinks your hard drive is the primary boot device and keeps looking at it. If you change it over to use the SSD as your main boot device the issue will be resolved.
