Sli Question

Ok I'm getting good results from a single gigabyte gtx 1080 and I'm wondering how much of a boost would getting a second get me, I have a 4k monitor

Depends on the game. 25-50% boost if the game supports it, as sli scaling isnt perfect.

Better would be to get a rtx 2080ti or a gtx 1080ti.

Well optimized games can get upwards of 80%.

I would say average around 40-50 though. Some games you’ll get worse FPS in though lol. It’s kinda use at your own risk. If you want 4K 60 FPS in everything, then you’ll still have to get SLI Pascal cards. You might get close with a single 2080 Ti though, but you can check those benchmarks.

 

ive thought about getting a second 1080 myself. They’re really cheap right now too. But you’re still probably better off going with a single better card

ive thought about getting a second 1080 myself. They’re really cheap right now too. But you’re still probably better off going with a single better card

the thing is im getting 60fps or close in every game which confuses me because I shouldn't be

Well it depends on settings, game, what actual card you have. If you’re getting basically 60 FPS then I see no point to getting another

I usually have everything in ultra and in 4k

On average, you'll see about 70% scaling. Some games give more, some games give less. As it was said before, it depends on the games you play. Also, not all games support SLI. You can apply unofficial SLI fixes, but results are not guaranteed.
