Powering loop without PSU

TahoeDust

My new build will be using the PSU from my current build.  I am going to want to be able to power my loop for testing without installing the PSU.  What is the best way to do this?

Could I use something like this?: http://a.co/d/hGApTiy

i9-9900k @ 5.1GHz || EVGA 3080 ti FTW3 EK Cooled || EVGA z390 Dark || G.Skill TridentZ 32gb 4000MHz C16

 970 Pro 1tb || 860 Evo 2tb || BeQuiet Dark Base Pro 900 || EVGA P2 1200w || AOC Agon AG352UCG

Cooled by: Heatkiller || Hardware Labs || Bitspower || Noctua || EKWB

You can use a power adapter like that but your going to require a higher amperage unit, pumps like the D5 or DDC use around 36W and 18W respectively if you run them at full speed.

Ok. Thanks. I'll be running a D5, so I will look for something that can do 36w.

Not having any luck.  I may just have to buy a cheap PSU.

going off topic can't believe they're selling that for $10

I literally built one with an old router power supply and a molex connector when I was a kid and still have it to test fans

ps. you have one psu right? the one in your current build?

why not just jump start it and see if everything works?

ASUS X470-PRO • R7 1700 4GHz • Corsair H110i GT P/P • 2x MSI RX 480 8G • Corsair DP 2x8 @3466 • EVGA 750 G2 • Corsair 730T • Crucial MX500 250GB • WD 4TB

You can just take your current PSU and jump the 24 pin and only connect the molex for power until you finish leak testing the loop.

...Or use a PSU after all. Having a cheap spare PSU around to use for filling/testing etc without needing to power on the main system PSU is handy to have.
