BIOS flashing

Hi all.

 

I was sitting at work today an thinking if the GTX 1070Ti is only like 10% less in power than a GTX 1080 would flashing the bios on the 1070ti to a 1080 not work well?

 

If that makes sense I don't know anything about bios flashing gpus I've seen like one or two videos on bios flashing a RX480 to a RX580 and seemed to work well.

 

So was wondering if it would work with a 1070ti to 1080 not that I would ever want to do it just would be cool to see if it would work and how well it would work.

you cant do that, cores are physically seperated. Even if you manage to get it working you will not have a 1080. RX480 and RX580 is identical hardware wise.

The 1080 uses gddr5x, I can't imagine what kind of ram errors you'd get

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

It would be a brick. The hardware is physically different. Things like the RX480 4gb vs 8gb was just turned off in the BIOS for some cards

Isn’t a bios factor with the card difference. Just overclock if you want to match stock 1080 performance, well at least come close.
