I have been working with a gaming laptop for the past several years. I am finally at the point where I can financially afford to put together a high end computer. My goal is to build a high end computer that will be about as future proof as possible. Outside of general use I will use this machine for gaming, professional photo editing, and coding. After a few weeks of planning I have come to the iteration below. I plan on running a custom hard line water cooling loop (CPU and GPU), hence the lack of a CPU cooler. Any input you all have would be greatly appreciated. Does anything seem out of place? Are there comparability issues I have missed? Does anything seem like absolute overkill? Again, I really want this system to stay as relevant as possible for the next several years. The only part that I am heavily concerned about is the GPU; but, the general consensus seems to be that a 1080ti, as opposed to a 2080ti, is going to be fine for quite some time. Any other comments, criticisms, etc... would be great. Thanks!

There's no such thing as future proof, but you do have longevity. Also, the consensus is 1080 ti as opposed to 2080, but the 2080 ti is another story entirely. Worth a buy if it's in budget, as it's the gaming king right now.

That's more or less what I meant. I know you can't make a system that will never be outdated, I just want to make a system that will be able to last as long as possible before becoming outdated. Longevity is a much better word for my meaning.

I must have read some poor reviews then. I'll be honest, my gut has been telling me to go with a 2080ti and I would gladly pay the premium for a higher performance and longer lasting card, assuming that's the case. I do have two main concerns though.

  • I have no idea when I will be able to find a 2080ti as they appear to be sold out everywhere. I am somewhat worried about the US tariff changes raising prices me, but I admittedly do not know which companies this will effect. 
  • To my knowledge, there are no water blocks currently on the market. That means I would either have to forgo building my loop right now, build separate loops for the CPU and GPU, or build a CPU loop that will then have to be modified to include the GPU at a later date. None of these options sound ideal or desirable, but maybe I'm mistaken in that sentiment. I have never built a hard line loop before, and I would ideally like to complete it in one go.
