This rig is now just over 1 year old but i remember this happening then too.

 

My PSU is a Corsair CX 600w. Yeah pretty cheapo i know.

If a game is running at super high fps like 2k fps eg: in GTA IV loading screen or in Osu!, i hear very noticeable coil whine from the PSU. At least i'm preettty sure it comes from

there.

 

Would anyone happen to know why this happens? I mean, i've been fine for the past year.

Double check the source of the whining. It could very well be the GPU.

Coil whine is normally herd from GPU's when under load its just the VRM's vibrating its nothing major to worry about unless it gets louder and louder then you may want to think about a replacement.

 

Double check the source of the whining. It could very well be the GPU.

Actually i should mention this:

Not too long ago i RMAd my graphics card. Got a sapphire 7870 for the MSI one i had at first.

But i'll try to listen more closely to the gpu.
