I know this might not be able to be answered easily but after watching the last live stream from linus he said there are some pretty smart guys here.

I just recently build a mini server

i5-3750

Asus P8Z77-i

8GB ram

120bg ssd/3TB hdd.

So I wanted to build a mini server and it works great but I want to be able to run one of my old pc's off of the virtual machine on my server. I am running Virtualbox and I have been trying to find a way to boot the pc to that virtual box and actually run the virtual box on my old pc.

I have been digging around the internet and found PXE booting but I am VERY new to the server side of things and a lot of it is way over my head. But it appears that I just need an os such as linux(which I am knowledgeable in) and have it boot directly to a vpn client. The problem is finding documentation on how to do it for free.

Like I said I do not know if this could be easily answered but it would be cool to do! I could run my duel core vaio with the performance of my i5.

If you're running VirtualBox, couldn't you just enable remote display and RDP into the VM?

Yeah i did install teamveiwer on it and it works fine but i was wondering if there is a way to boot directly into a RDP or vnc. Mainly to have an os wth as little resouarces as possible, like damnsmalllinux with only a vnc software on it and have it autoconnect to the vm.

If you use any RDP software, you can go enable "remote display" in VirtualBox (Settings->Display->Remote Display), and using RDP software and the IP address, you can RDP into it.
