1366x768 vs 1920x1080p (laptop screen replacement)

DVA

Hey guys, long story short, I'm replacing my laptop screen due to a huge crack. It has rendered my touch screen capability useless. As I was looking for replacement screens I managed to come across one with a higher res.

My current res is 1366x768, the one I found is 1920x1080. Yes the 1080p one is compatible with my laptop, it's a 40pin connector with included digitizer and whatnot.

I just want to know if it's worth throwing the extra 20 bucks at it? If I remember correctly, videos scale down on a laptop (?) It's a 15.6in display so the laptop may benefit from the better ppi.

I am building my desktop tomorrow (my monitor finally comes in) so my laptop will be a side thing from now on. However, I don't want it to become obsolete and I don't want a sore eye going from my 2k monitor to a 768. But if it doesn't make that much of a difference then why bother with the 1080p if it will scale down to 768?

Thoughts and advice are well received! Thanks guys.

if you are certain that 1080p panels work with your device, $20 is absolutely worth it. You really do notice extra screen estate

Yes sir! I did make sure it was compatible. That's why they bumped the price up. It's for my exact model, has 40 pin connector for the touch screen, comes with the digitizer, again for the touch screen. If not, I am buying it from Amazon and they will take the return. Only a 20 minute procedure. Touch screen laptops are such a pain to replace... Simple LCD's have their bezel just pop right off, but with a touch screen the bezel is like super SUPER glued with the touchscreen for airtight spacing as not to get dirt within.

do try to check the quality of colours and what not and if IPS or TN although 1080p is definetly the better one (although you may feel the scaling is weird, thanks windows)

It's just a typical LED LCD screen which most laptops have. Yeah I know about the scaling, that was one of my questions because I don't want it to scale down or whatever weird way then it's just basically back to having a 1366x768.

I know it's only $20, but I don't want to spend it if I'm not getting anything extra out of it.

at 15.6 inches 1080p will make a huge difference

I'll go for it. Gonna pull the trigger, it's Amazon anyway. I'll just get my money back if it's not what I expected.
