So guys, I recently got a new laptop and even though it has good enough hardware I experience a lot of frame drops while gaming.

hardware:

i5 7300hq

gtx 1050ti (4gb)

8gb ddr4 ram

1 tb hdd (5400rpm)

when I look at task manager the background processes consume around 4gb, that is when I have nothing more to closed.

I do think it might be my ram because after a while my games consume like 7.4gb of 8 (I know not full but idk) the CPU and GPU never reach the 100% so i'm sure they aren't bottlenecking. thermals are okay, after an hour of stress test (both cpu and gpu together) my thermals were around 90 degrees C but there was no throttling. {also can someone please help me underclock my cpu..}

in games like GTA 5 I don't see any performance changes even if I turn my graphics down to potato. the game just runs at like 50 frames for the first 20 mins and then goes down to like 40ish once the ram reaches the above mentioned "full".

please help..

my brother has similar hardware, but has hdd (7200rmp) gtx 1050 and 16gb ram, but his works flawlessly

When RAM is full, windows uses the pagefile in your (slow) hard disk. That's causing your problems.

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.
