A GPU usage question/problem (GTX 1060)

So here is my old post from when I first got this card: 

I kinda put that aside and went with it cause I couldn't fix it and thought it might be normal, and it might just be, but in some instances when I compare my setup to other people's game benchmarks there is just too much of a difference.

 

the tl;dr is that in most games my gpu usage fluctuates, but in almost no games it just stays at a constant 90-100%. 

In benchmarks and in high demanding games where I crank up the settings to max it will stay at around 100% but in games like Rocket League it won't.

Other people with the same setup: 

 

constant 96% usage and stable 180-220 fps

 

Usage here drops but that's because he reaches the in game cap of 250fps

 

Same thing happens whether stock, overclocked or just with Power limit maxed.

 

Gigabyte G1 GamingGTX 1060 6GB 

Ryzen 5 1600 @3.8Ghz

2x8GB Hynix 2133mhz ddr4

 

I can get examples from more games if needed but this is almost the only game I play right now which is why I checked it and found out these results.

Why am I even complaining? Because every time my fps drops I can feel it and it just doesn't feel very smooth, I also have a 144hz monitor and the fps does drop to about 130 at times.

Your RAM is holding you back. The infinity fabric that communicates between the cores runs at the same speed as the memory. Try to overclock your memory to 2400 or 2666. Many kits can do that.

there's your problem, also don't expect for it to reach 99% when dealing with such high framerate, Ryzen is not good when it comes to high framerate.

I thought the ram might be the problem, but I then saw this video 

 

although they were testing more demanding games at max settings, but you can still see that there's almost no performance difference with the gtx 1060. But who knows maybe in higher framerate games it might be more of a bottleneck.

yes the difference will be bigger the higher the FPS is, and it's not just with Ryzen, Intel also gets affected with RAM speed when it comes to high framerate, but not to the extent of Ryzen, because RAM speed affects Ryzen directly.

 

also you can see in the video how the 1080 Ti performance gets affected with lower RAM speed, FPS is FPS doesn't matter what GPU you're using

also you can see in the video how the 1080 Ti performance gets affected with lower RAM speed, FPS is FPS doesn't matter what GPU you're using

I still don't feel like that's the only thing though, especially when you look at the first video I linked, that person is running 2133mhz as well, although at quad channel, but still.

well Quad channel is not supported by Ryzen CPU's (except threadripper), so even if you run 4x4, it will still be called Dual Channel, 2 RAM slots per channel.

 

also was that test done on Dual Channel or Single Channel? because on your older post you had 1 RAM stick and now you have two, and are you sure that your 2 RAM sticks are running in Dual Channel? because that also affects your FPS massively (in high framerates).

Then that further proves my point, because yes I am running on dual channel on the correct slots so that isn't the reason that person's graphics card is running better than mine.

did you check if your Ryzen CPU is clocking correctly? maybe it's somehow underclocked, can't think of anything else that would cause this issue
