J am planning on building my first PC and J am now getting into the power supply and all of the cables. Most of the information J got from Youtube but J have a problem.

In all of the videos plugging in the main motherboard cable is said that it is a 24 pin cable. But when J look up the power supplies that are fully modular it says that the

motherboard cables are 10 pin and 18 pin ( for example EVGA - SuperNOVA G3 750W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply)

Can someone explain to me what it is all about?

The pin count for a modular PSU is not equal on both sides. It'll be a 10 pin to 24 pin or an 18 pin to a 24 pin. 24 pin will go into motherboard, and other side will go to PSU.

Also, why use J instead of I?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I need?

Okay than is good to know but if I want to plug in the cables how do I know which pins to connect for example all from the 10 pin and some from the 18 pin on the PSU or the other way around?

Also I don't know why I used J instead of I

You plug all the pins, you don't leave anything hanging.

There's only one way to plug the pins. Like you already said, there are 10pin and 18pin plugs on the PSU, and a 24pin plug on the motherboard. The cable has a 10pin and 18pin connector on one end, and a 24pin one on the other end. What other way to connect them would there be that you're concerned about?

Aaaaa what you said just explained a lot to me beacuese I thought that the pins have to match each other like 24 pin on the motherboard and a 24 pin on the PSU but if that is not the case than I think I now know everything I need.

Thanks a lot guys
