i7-7700K in Asus VIII Hero?

Stupid question, but will an i7-7700K work in an ASUS VIII Hero? I believe anything after the i7-7700K (like the 8700K) uses a different socket correct?

yeah, with a bios update.

Yes it will work, but remember: You must update the bios before the 7700k will work on a Z170 motherboard!

Is this difficult to do or does it just mean I need the latest BIOS from Asus? (I am already on the latest BIOS)

You just need the latest bios from the Asus website, flash it onto the motherboard with EZ Flash (in the BIOS), and you are good to go.

 

If you already have the latest BIOS version from the ASUS site.
