The WiFi speeds here at home are spotty at best. So I thought about getting a powerline adapter kit. The router (which is a TV set top box) in the kitchen and my PC literally just across the hall. BUT, the set top box only has ONE ethernet port, line in. and thats it...how would I connect up the adapters?.....would i need to interupt the ethernet line in with a splitter so it can connect to the tv box for WiFi still?

I havnt got a clue on this at all. The WiFi is terrible, it sometimes drops out for no reason and the speed goes up and down all the time. So a wired connection would solve that issues for sure, but i cant streak ethernet cables across the hall and through doors.

So how would i connect it all up with the single ethernet port on the TV box?

If its an issue with 2.4 Ghz thats to be expected. Microwave ovens transmit 2.4 Ghz signals when in operation. So a router near a microwave will have issues with WiFI.

Oh right so. Ethernet line in, 30 quid switch, tv box and adapter?

Yeah, you buy like a 4 or 5 port switch and you can plug one port to the router and the other to the TV. Then use one of the others for your power line adapters. Some of the power line adapters I have seen also have WiFi built in, might be something to look at if you want to extend your WiFi.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
