Hello, I recently enrolled for a new semster in college when I had realized I would need Microsoft Office 2013 in order for some of the work to be done. I was wondering if there are any alternative solutions to MS Office as I do not have the cash on hand to purchase a license nor does my college sell one (it's a local college so not much in terms of software avabliity). Also are any of them able to open and read Word documents with ease? Sorry for my noobishness.. I've never dealt much with MS software outside of Windows. Thank you.

Libre Office is my #1 pick. It can read and create it's own MS documents, but formatting can mess up once and a while, but basic text documents in MLA format are fine from my experiences.

Is it able to open and read MS Office extensions like .docx, etc?
