Hi,
So my friend built his first computer the other day, but ran into a major issue. When he's on the computer, it randomly blanks out the screen (Black screen), and completely freezes up.
Here are his components:

  • Intel Core i7 8700K
  • ASUS Prime H370M Plus Motherboard
  • Corsair Vengeance Ryzen 16GB (2x8GB) DDR4
  • Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming OC 11GB
  • EVGA 600B 600W Power Supply
  • Seagate Barracuda 3TB
  • Crucial MX500 500GB
  • Noctua NH-D15
  • AOC FHD 24in Monitor
  • NZXT H400i
  • Logitech G512

We are trying really hard to resolve this, so any help with this, or why it occurs, would be greatly appreciated ^_^

First thing that sticks out to me is the "Ryzen" labeled RAM. Have you tried running 1 stick at a time? Also, got any spare RAM you could use to test?

What are the temps when he uses it?

Ryzen 5 1600 @ 3.9 Ghz  | Gigabyte AB350M Gaming 3 |  PaliT GTX 1050Ti  |  8gb Kingston HyperX Fury @ 2933 Mhz  |  Corsair CX550m  |  1 TB WD Blue HDD

Inside some old case I found lying around.

You bought an 8700K and a motherboard with an H370 chipset, no duh it's gonna freeze. It realized how dumb you are and shuts down.

I'm kidding. (but in all seriousness why did you do that). Did you install the CPU cooler correctly? With thermal compound? If there are any air bubbles or space between the cooler and CPU, it could easily turn off from becoming too hot.

Life is harsh.

Make sure you don't have dirty wall power. Plug the computer in directly to the wall, and then try another outlet in a different part of the house (or building). Try the RAM steps. Enter the BIOS and select "restore default settings". Try clearing CMOS (taking out the little battery on the motherboard and waiting ~10 minutes before putting it back in). And try all of this without the GPU like mentioned above.
