Friend having computer issues. Need help!

So i helped my friend build a computer and it was running fine at my house but when he brought it home, he was getting a black screen with a mouse cursor. He brought his computer to my house tonight and i put this HDD that has is OS (Win 8) on it and it booted fine. im actually using it right now. What do you guys think is the problem? Please help us asap! Thanks!

Full specs, please. It has windows on another HDD and now its working with windows from different hdd? That might be windows issue, update gone wrong or driver issue.
