Wait for it to come out to say for sure. If your CPU is bottlenecking though sure, you might want to upgrade. Otherwise I see no reason to

Buy whatever product is best for you, not what product is "best" for the market.

Interested in computer architecture? Still in middle or high school? P.M. me!

I love computer hardware and feel free to ask me anything about that (or phones). I especially like SSDs. But please do not ask me anything about Networking, programming, command line stuff, or any relatively hard software stuff. I know next to nothing about that.

Hi LTT Community!

I need some advice on whether I should upgrade my i5-3570k to the new coming 9th gen processor. Mostly playing AAA games.

My current specs:

CPU:i5-3570k @ 4.5ghz

MOBO:ASUS Maximus V Formula

GPU: Gtx 1080

Monitor: BenQ 1080p @ 144hz

Thanks!

You might wanna wait a bit longer tbh, its not honorably slow yet... Its just not all that fast either. And if you do upgrade then just keep to an i7 unless money isnt an issue at all, then yeet it

Probably but intel isn't releasing an 8700K replacement for the 9th gen, so you lose out on hyperthreading unless you pay for $499

Should just grab an R5 2600 on the cheap...

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?
