Best cpu Platform for rendering

im looking to do a huge upgrade on my old system (server) and im wondering what is the best cpu platform mainly what socket for Intel Xeon with DDR4/DDR3 ram dual CPU system

This depends strongly on your budget.

 

LGA 2066 Xeons are definitely going to hold the most cores, but 2011 Xeons will work well too.

i dont really have a budget but i need something that does not cost to much at first but can be upgradable later

If you want to be on a modern socket, I'd say your best bet would be investing in a 1920X and X399 motherboard. That combo will cost you less than an i9-7900X on its own.

AMD has a 24c for 1200$ if i remember, not the TR, its an EPYC.

Some older Opterons might be a good option, you can have up to 4 of those in one board if you really want it.
