I have what in my opinion is a solid power supply. There isn't anything WRONG with it, its just my computer's temperature seem to be right on its fan threshold. What I mean by this, is that it powers the fan up and down. The corsair GS600W is designed to turn its fan off when its cool enough and spins it up when it isn't. But my pc seems to be at its temperature threshold. Its this cycle of powering up and down which is audible and in my entire pc, it kind of ruins the peace. I could make the whole hotter too keep it on, but this isn't really practical.

Any ideas?

How is the airflow in your case, and which way is the PSU orientated?

Actually i heard about some corsair power supplies with the "not turning up fan thing up to 20% of usage" that they have wiered and not working fan profiles... I had to rma a 750hx because of the same issue and the new one worked. As far as i know the fan speed is not controlled by a temperature monitor, but by power usage, so adding or removing fans will not help. The fan does not turn on up to 20% usage of the rated power.

Another reason for the spinning up could be if you have a hazwell cpu. I think they have many bumps up and down in terms of power usage... you can switch the low power options off in the bios.

This only happens when I play games or use the graphics card which increases the power draw and increases the temperature too.

What are your specs?

Gaming rig- Cpu- Amd 9590, 16gbs of G Skill Ram, Gpu- GTX 760 windforce 3 edition 2gb. A Thermaltake water 2.0 water cooler for my cpu. Keyboard- Thermaltake Posieden , Case- 750D, Mobo Asus 990fx R2.0. 24 inch Dell LED monitor

Still same thing with the hx series, the temperature of the power supplie is depending on the power that goes through. The actual fan rpm is regulated by the power usage.

If it is power usage, would you say I'm pretty much stuck? I don't really want to throw in rubbish into my pc to make it more power hungry to keep the fan on. Reducing power would seem like an ideal option, but then the only way I can see this happening is if I BUY replacement parts that I don't really need or underclock things which isn't practical either.

Actually you could switch off the power saving phases of the cpu in the bios and see weather that helps...
