Good day, I have question at work I need help with. I have 10 PCs that are connected to a private server, and the PCs are setup in pairs and having same the IP addresses for each pair (for synergy to work). All 10PCs have no internet access nor wifi. PC1 & PC2 are connected via LAN cable.

PC1: 192.180.16.0.1

PC2: 192.180.16.0.2

PC3: 192.180.16.0.1

PC4: 192.180.16.0.2

PC5: 192.180.16.0.1

PC6: 192.180.16.0.2

PC7: 192.180.16.0.1

PC8: 192.180.16.0.2

PC9: 192.180.16.0.1

PC10: 192.180.16.0.2

So what is the problem I would be having?

Are they all connected to the same physical LAN and pulling from the same DHCP pool? If so, you will need to either create VLANs to separate them so they cant see each other, or assign different IP addresses so they dont overlap with one another.

What is your goal exactly? You can't have any traffic on PCs with an IP conflict.

It's easier to route traffic based on hostnames rather than IPs. You CAN have the same hostname, this is used in the server world for what is known as Round Robin.

I'm no networking expert, but I see what I think are two problems right off the bat:  1, those "IP addresses" have one too many numbers, and 2, each number is reused 5 times.  I think that might be why you're getting conflicts...

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

In order for this to work, You should try VLSM.

As shown Below.

Note: Each pair of PC's will require the server to have an independent IP Address.

PC1: 192.180.0.1

PC2: 192.180.0.2

Server 192.168.0.6

Subnet: 255.255.255.248

PC3: 192.180.0.9

PC4: 192.180.0.10

server: 192.168.0.14

Subnet: 255.255.255.248

PC5: 192.180.0.17

PC6: 192.180.0.18

server: 192.168.0.22

Subnet: 255.255.255.248

PC7: 192.180.0.25

PC8: 192.180.0.26

server: 192.168.0.30

Subnet: 255.255.255.248

PC9: 192.180.0.33

PC10: 192.180.0.34

server: 192.168.0.38

Subnet: 255.255.255.248

What is Synergy? What program deliberately requires a specific ip address?

If you're interested in a product please download and read the manual first.

I just re-looked at the IPs listed, for LAN IPs you can only use 192.168. The ones you have listed, 192.180. are public facing IP addresses. Also, you have 1 to many octets in your IP address, it should only be 4, not 5. IE: 192.168.1.100

I don't understand why you are doing this, Synergy should work just fine with normal IP addresses, they just possibly need to be static DHCP addresses so they do not change between boots.
