I just got my first apartment and I need internet for college(and various other things) and I was wondering what is the better solution a modem/router combo or separate modem and router

I'll recommend a separate modem and router. Because you can always change out the router for a better one, with lots of options to choose from. As for a modem/router combo, I think there aren't that many great options out there now.

Separate units is generally the way to go, but it depends on your requirements.

What kind of bandwidth package were you looking for?

Make sure to get at least something dual-band or AC based since 2.4 GHz sucks hard in apartment type of environments due to congestion.
