PowerColor 7970 Black Screen at 74C

Hello,

 

I have a reference version of the Powercolor HD 7970 that displays a black screen down as soon as it hits 74 Degrees. The card works fine and everything, it's just when it hits that temp it seems to break when I test it using kombustor. I have tried the BIOS switch on the card, and that did not affect it. It did work with an accelero, but using that is not an option. Underclocking/ Undervolting does nothing to stop the card form hitting 74. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Is the card at all full of dust?  You could try some crompressed air and blowing out the heatsink and fan.

No, I already took apart the card and cleaned everything out, giving it new thermal paste too. I did a bit of testing, and it seems to not care about the temperature that much, but a combination of temperature and voltage. It will go up to 95C fine (I was testing, had the fan on 35%), but It will not if the voltage is over ~1V. I have not tried running stock clocks at that low voltage, however. Interesting.
