Hey guys I wanted to buy a 144Hz monitor to go with my new gaming build and I have decided to buy this one https://www.amazon.in/Asus-VG248QE-Monitor-response-Refresh/dp/B00B2HH7G0/ref=mp_s_a_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1537028231&sr=8-1&pi=AC_SX118_SY170_FMwebp_QL65&keywords=144hz+monitor+led

On Amazon it says that the panel is LED but everywhere else it says it's a TN Panel, which I think is LCD although I have no idea and I'm not sure at this point. So is this a good buy and is it an actual LED panel or just another LCD panel? Also to use 144Hz is HDMI enough or should I use display port?

Some help here would be appreciated guys

Thanks a lot

It is an LCD display, using LEDs to produce light. That is what all "LED" displays are.

The VG248QE is limited to 60 Hz at 1080p over HDMI.

The VG248QE is one of the oldest 144 Hz monitors still sold, and is still practically the same price it was 5 years ago. It is not a good value at all, there are many monitors which are superior in every way that cost the same or less, like the ViewSonic XG2402.

Looks like they're buying in India so the XG2402 is actually 50% more expensive at 40k Rupees ($550 USD) vs 26k Rupees ($370 USD) for the VG248QE they linked.

Indian PC prices suck, especially for anything recent. Probably still other better value deals out there though.

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450

Yeah but does have LEDs, not just LCD. I know nothing is truly LED than those big banner things or traffic lights lol ViewSonic monitors are too expensive here.

The only other one is this Samsung panel https://www.amazon.in/Samsung-23-5-Curved-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B071RDS622/ref=mp_s_a_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1537010889&sr=8-2&pi=AC_SX118_SY170_QL70&keywords=144hz+monitor+led&dpPl=1&dpID=51JKTwE5IWL&ref=plSrch

Or this LG one.

Ah I see :)

Well the Samsung C24FG70 you linked is still a better option than the VG248QE.

Do you have a link for the LG monitor?

Without having seen what the LG monitor is, the Samsung is the better choice between it and the Asus VG248QE. It's also slightly cheaper, and is also a curved panel.

I just switched from the 34" LG 34UC89G-B ultra wide that ran 144Hz and swapped to 2x 27" Asus ROG PG27Us. I MISS the ultrawide feeling, but I am REALLY enjoying the dual screen output for being able to multi task + 4K resolution.

My only current problem is figuring out the right settings as I'm only 24 hours in with the dual monitor set up
