Often lag while on W10 desktop

I've recently noticed on my build that when I alt-tab into the desktop, it will significantly lag - the mouse pointer will lag behind, my Corsair iCue keyboard lights will lag too among other things.

I don't know what is causing this nor when it started happening.

I can see on task manager when it happens, CPU goes to 100%, RAM starts skyrocketing and GPU is 100%.

Oddly enough, I can't seem to replicate this on-demand.

 

I'm running:

Ryzen 3 1300X

GTX 1060 6GB

2x4GB 2400Mhz Corsair Vengeance

Prime-B350-Plus (Bios 04/19/18 05.0000D)

Windows 10 64-bit (Build 17134)

 

Google doesn't help with this issue either, I'm only getting '10 Reasons why your system is running slow on Windows 10'

 

Any ideas/anyone with similar issues?

Alt tabbing from other apps or games?

pretty sure it happens when from games

EDIT: I just alt-tabbed from Minecraft - it started to lag on the desktop with GPU going to 100% and memory capping at 7.4/7.9GB (where it was around 5.5GB before alt-tabbing) Game was in windowed mode

I believe I used to have this issue but it's not as much of one anymore... I searched it up and apparently focus assist, which was introduced in April, can cause this issue. By default it's automatically enabled when you open a game. I disabled it because it was kinda annoying. Just go to settings system focus assist to disable it and see if that helps.
