like 20 min normally. you can format in the installer. It will delete all files.

I currently have the windows 8.1

Hmmmm, It's been a while since I used 8.1, is there an upgrade option where you can use the activation code on your disc to upgrade to 10 pro?  That way you aren't reinstalling from scratch.

ok regardless of the option to upgrade or not, I would highly recommend a fresh install. If you have all other software keys and can back everything up, then do your machine a favor and start fresh

Insanity is not the absence of sanity, but the willingness to ignore it for a purpose. Chaos is the result of this choice. I relish in both.

Back up first, that will take the most time depending on what you've got, and depending on your hardware, the os install will take anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour

though to be clear it won't take much if any more time than an upgrade will, The added time will be however long it takes to back up your files, the install won't take any more time than upgrading usually
