Desktop AMP/DAC ?!!?

so..please help me with my confusion here. im not an audio guy.

every time i see people talk about amps or dac its either headphone amp/dacs or those full size beefy mofos.

is there a small-ish middle ground?

an amp/dac combo strong enough to drive some bookshelf speakers with lets say 80-ish watts peak,

but small enough so my desk doesnt get cramned,

and also obviously of good value quality, cause ve seen those amazon-china-things and they dont inspire trust.

so long question short : does it have to be full size or headpone amp? is there a middle ground? maybe headphone amps strong anough or really cut down normal amp/dacs. idk. just curious because i was planning to get some new speakers but i felt like i was forced to go with active speakers or you know..a shoebox sized amp/receiver. idealo id like something as small as some of the headphone amps but strong enough for bookshelf speakers with an integrated dac to usb or at least any digital signal.

"You know it'll clock down as soon as it hits 40°C, right?" - "Yeah ... but it doesnt hit 40°C ... ever  😄"
