So sometimes after my PC comes out of sleep my monitor does not wake up with it. The only way I've found to fix it is by hard resetting the PC. It only does this sometimes and can't seem to find out what is causing it, or if it is completely random. Just wondering if anyone has had this problem before and could help?

My PC:

biostar 750a

gtx260

phenom IIx4 965be

5gb of ddr2800

windows 7 ultimate 64bit

It's not a Windows thing. It's a hardware related problem (usually driver missing (no drivers, or using Windows generic ones) or issue, unsupported OS, or BIOS issue).

I used to have the problem, but it ended up being my X-Fi card. As that sound card 'caused me nothing but trouble (and it's not the card that is broken, it's shitty Creative bad circuit design), I changed it to the Xonar Essence STX. No more issue. Well that was my specific case.

Anyway, usually the problem occurs when hybrid sleep is enabled (enabled by default in Windows 7 and 8 (it's a new WIn7 feature)), where as it's new, and manufactures assumes that you don't use as you are on a desktop, don't test their stuff.

Hybrid Sleep is a feature in Windows 7/8, that allows the system, when it is sleeping, to power up in a special extra low power sate (and this is where you system gets stuck, as one of your hardware doesn't support this feature), where you don't see anything on the screen, and hibernates the computer.

To disable this feature, is quiet simple. Open the Power Options panel, found in Control Panel (or you can search for it in the Start Menu or Start Screen), and on the currently selected power plan, click on change plan settings, and then click on change advance power settings. A panel will show up. On that panel, under under the Sleep section, and finally you'll see Hybrid Speep option, just set it to Off. Click OK, and you are done!

Your problem should be solved. If not, then the problem is occurring with Sleep feature of Windows. You can run a diagnostic by doing as follows:

1- Open the command prompt as true administrator.

2- Go to C:\ root drive by typing: cd C:\, and hit the Enter key.

3- Now type: powercfg -energy, and hit Enter.

The system will generate an HTML report file on C:\. you'll see it when the process is done. Open it, and you'll see all that is wrong with your system that is causing a problem with the sleep process.

Torey, in the future, linking the file to somewhere like google drive is better than leaving a link to a download.

The file is SFW and passes a Comodo Antivirus scan.

EDIT: to clarify, its better cause you can view google drive files without downloading them.
