HI all, I am a PhD student whose work is entirely on the computer (no physical experiments, just computational modelling). As such, I have the luxury to work from home when I want/can and remote desktop into my work computer. Our lab used to mainly use Teamviewer as the free version was pretty descent, but recently (like, as of today) they changed their policy on the free version and have started heavily limiting access with it. I would not mind paying for a full version of the software, but it is not cheap what so ever ($50/month). Does anyone know of another descent remote desktop software that could be used instead? I would not mind paying if the prices are not too astronomical for a student to afford.

Edit: I currently use MobaXterm to SSH into our labs GPU cluster from my work computer and know it has a remote desktop ability. Does anyone know of a good tutorial on how to set that up?

It depends on what operating system is running and whether all machines have a GUI.

CLI only machines can be accessed through SSH, like you already mentioned. Windows can be accessed through RDP, which has clients for download for all major platforms. Linux desktops and Macs can be accessed through VNC. You will need local network access for this, so through a VPN.

I use microsoft's own remote desktop anywhere in the world. Just get a RPI and create a VPN.

I have one and works great for me.

I can help you with more information if you want.

This only works on windows though. Didn't understand which OS you use and which interface you use.

My work and home PC are just Windows 10, so nothing fancy there. Our GPU clusters are different, but I can already connect to those now. I am currently trying with MobaXterm RDP, but having issues.
