Hi everyone,I have my PC for about 4 years now. The question is : what to upgrade to increase performance on graphic design ( photoshop/illustrator/lightroom ). games is not priority so I don't think that the GPU upgrade is necessary. My thoughts is to change motherboard, buy cpu cooler and overclock cpu,and add more RAM. so the build is :

i5 4670k ( stock cooler )

asus r9 280

8gb 1600 ram

b85m-g

120gb samsung 840evo

1TB seagate HDD ( enough ,still 650gb left )

Wouldn't it be a better idea to swap out the CPU as well when you already plan to change the MOBO?

It will increase performance in software applications and be more future proof then.

Positive Mental Additude!

Just another Tired IT guy...

Adobe software prefers Nvidia GPUs, so you could probably win something there. However, there's a vast amount of relatively cheap CPU upgrades you can do as well. Take a look at Xeon E3 v3 chips, and especially the 1230v3 and up. They can be had for around $120 and offer 4c/8t. You wouldn't need to change boards that way.

okay,to make things more clear few questions :
Does gpu really affects adobe performance? cuz I don't play games at all,and I don't think that gpu upgrade>cpu upgrade ( maybe I am wrong, enlighten me )

Does b85 really is not ready for overclock? I am founding information that is not recommended, but thats not always impossible

I am still pupil, and graphic design is still just a small side job to make some cash.

I am from Lithuania where prices are way higher than yours ( probably, not sure about tech, opinion formed based on other products )
